A lot of things have been going on since the MMU got her new president. As I’d blogged earlier about the new dean for Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Faculty of Information of Technology (FIT) also had management changed with the appointment of a new dean as well. Previous dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ewe Hong Tat has began his new post as the Acting Vice President (Academic) of MMU and the new dean for FIT is Dr. Ho Chin Kuan.
Some of you might be wondering why am I blogging about FIT since I am a staff from FOE? Well, FOE and FIT used to share the same building before FIT moved to their new building. I have a housemate who is a staff of FIT, so FIT does have some influence in my life
As, I was preparing to blog, a thought came through my mind. Hey… I just realised that to my knowledge, FIT had had 4 deans up to today. After some recollection of memories, I managed to recall the list of FIT deans since the establishment of MMU-FIT. And it would be nice to share with you all the deans of FIT.
NOTE: I may get the wrong time line.
Prof. Lee Poh Aun (1997-2000)
Prof. Chuah Hean Teik (Acting: 2000-2001)
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ewe Hong Tat (2001-2008)
Dr. Ho Chin Kuan (2008-present)

Dr. Ewe was Prof Chuah’s Ph.D student, Dr. Ho was Dr. Ewe’s Ph.D student… just a bunch of cronies.

You forgot: Prof. Chuah was Prof Ghauth (formerly MMU President)’s Ph.D student!
Ya…a bunch of cronies, Malaysia Boleh.

Well, as far as i know, Dr. Ho, the latest dean, is not a crony. He was Dr. Ewe’s student before, no doubt, but he got that post not by that fact alone but by his own capability. Name me anyone in FIT that’s better than him for that post? Ask some FIT lecturers (and students who have attended his classes) to get a better idea might do him more justice. He is an elder also in Methodist church – and that is not cronyism at all. Why I know this? I’m in FIT too
